P-16 is a
public/private partnership, evolved from the Tennessee
Commission on Education Quality, which focuses on key education
improvement initiatives including promotion of the link between
an educated citizenry and a healthy economy. Once a State P-16
Council was created it fostered the development of regional and
local councils across the state of Tennessee. Walters State
Community College coordinated the Mid-East Regional P-16 Council
as the first regional P-16 Council.
