& 12th grade students in Grainger and Hancock counties.
Our other two
initiatives were driven by two diversity grants written last year. They include
faculty recruitment and international outreach.

conjunction with the WSCC International Campus organization held two
International Day Festivals on the WSCC campus

WORKFORCE/TECHNOLOGY

Within the 10
county service area of the P-16 council (20) teams have signed up for a
“Real World Design Competition” to design wind tunnels to explore
alternative energy

The P-16
council designed a survey to better understand the needs of the council,
which has been published in the Handbook for Success
-
One new local
council in Grainger County has scheduled on February 19, 2009 their first
organizational meeting.
-
Will host
February, 2009 a council meeting with Dr. Gary Nixon, Dr. Matt Murray and
representative from SREB to discuss the implications of education, the
economy, and preparing our regional future workforce.
